The bold pattern has a distinctly Art Deco feel and makes this a particularly striking example of Stratton’s pre-war accessories.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe case opens to reveal its original sprung metal cigarette retainer, stamped “Stratton Brand – Made in England”. This early style of fitting is quite different from the adjustable retainers found in later Stratton cigarette cases and is a lovely feature in its own right.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMeasuring approximately 8.5 x 8 cm, the case has a satisfyingly substantial square form with softly rounded corners and a push-button opening.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere is considerable age-related wear to the decorative finish, including rubbing, scratches and areas of loss, all clearly shown in the photographs. The interior also shows age and use. Despite this, the wonderful snakeskin pattern remains very apparent and the case has heaps of authentic period character.
