The reverse and rounded ends have Kigu’s finely engine-turned gold-tone finish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis distinctive curved form is often described as Kigu’s barrel or bolster cigarette case. Measuring approximately 8cm x 3cm, it opens along the side hinge to reveal the gold-tone interior.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe coloured butterfly decoration is associated with Kigu’s late 1950s range, with coloured butterfly designs appearing in the company’s 1957 price list.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA particularly lovely collector’s example as it retains its original Kigu “Compacts of Character” presentation box together with its fitted protective pouch. Finding these decorative barrel cases complete with their period packaging is increasingly difficult.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe case remains in lovely vintage condition, particularly the decorative enamel front, with only light age-related wear consistent with its age.
