OVERVIEW
This website is operated by The Compact Collective. Throughout the site, the terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to The Compact Collective.
These Terms of Service apply to your use of this website and to purchases made through it. By using this website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms.
Nothing in these Terms affects any statutory rights you may have as a consumer.
1. ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS
The Compact Collective specialises primarily in vintage and antique powder compacts, vanity items and related collectibles.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, our items are vintage, antique or pre-owned and should not be expected to be in modern, factory-new condition.
Signs of age, previous use, patination, tarnishing, surface wear and other age-related characteristics may be present.
We make reasonable efforts to describe and photograph each item accurately and to identify notable flaws or condition issues.
Photographs form an important part of the product description and should be viewed alongside the written description before purchasing.
Colours may appear slightly different depending upon lighting, photography and individual screen settings.
2. DATING, ATTRIBUTION & PRODUCT INFORMATION
Information concerning the maker, date, materials, origin or history of vintage and antique items is provided in good faith using available information, reference material, identifying marks and our reasonable assessment.
Where an exact date cannot be established, dates may be approximate.
We will not knowingly misrepresent an item. Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights where goods are materially not as described.
3. VINTAGE COSMETICS & ACCESSORIES
Any original cosmetic product remaining within a vintage compact or vanity item — including powder, rouge, lipstick, perfume or similar contents — is supplied solely as part of the item's historical or collectible character and must not be used or applied.
Vintage cosmetic contents may have deteriorated with age and their safety cannot be guaranteed.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, vintage accessories such as powder puffs should likewise be regarded as collectible components rather than new cosmetic applicators.
4. ORDERS
Placing an order constitutes an offer to purchase the goods.
An order is accepted when we confirm acceptance and/or dispatch the goods, subject to applicable consumer law.
We reserve the right to cancel or decline an order where reasonably necessary, including where an item is unavailable, there has been an obvious pricing or listing error, payment cannot be authorised, or we cannot lawfully fulfil the order.
If payment has already been taken for an order that we subsequently cancel, the appropriate amount will be refunded.
5. PRICES & PAYMENT
Prices are displayed in the currency shown on the website.
Delivery charges and, where applicable, duties or taxes will be displayed or calculated as part of the checkout process.
We take reasonable care to ensure prices are accurate. In the event of an obvious pricing error, we may contact you before accepting or fulfilling the order.
Payment must be made using one of the payment methods available at checkout.
6. AVAILABILITY
Most of our vintage items are individual pieces and may only be available in a quantity of one.
Although our inventory systems are designed to prevent the same item being sold twice, stock can occasionally become unavailable due to simultaneous sales, inventory errors or other circumstances.
If we cannot supply an item you have ordered, we will contact you and refund any amount due.
7. DELIVERY
Delivery options and charges are shown at checkout where available.
We use appropriate postal and courier services according to the destination, size, weight and value of an order.
Delivery dates and carrier estimates are estimates unless expressly stated otherwise.
Full information concerning dispatch, international delivery, DDP, customs, uncollected parcels and returned shipments is contained in our Shipping Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
Nothing in these Terms transfers to the consumer a delivery risk that legally remains with us.
8. INTERNATIONAL ORDERS, DUTIES & TAXES
International orders may be subject to customs procedures, import taxes or duties depending upon the destination and delivery arrangement.
Where a shipment is sent Delivered Duty Paid (DDP), applicable duties and/or taxes may be collected in advance.
Where charges are not prepaid, the recipient may be responsible for charges imposed by the destination country.

Customers must not request that we falsely declare the value, nature, origin or contents of a shipment.
9. CANCELLATIONS, RETURNS & REFUNDS
Your rights to cancel an online purchase and return goods are governed by applicable consumer law and our Refund & Returns Policy.
Where a statutory cancellation right applies, consumers may notify us of cancellation within the applicable cancellation period.
Change-of-mind return postage is the buyer's responsibility where permitted by law.
Different rules may apply where an item is faulty, damaged or materially not as described.
Our Refund & Returns Policy forms part of these Terms.
10. ORIGINAL PACKAGING & COLLECTIBLE VALUE
Where an item is sold with an original box, pouch, case, paperwork, label or other accessory, those components form part of the item supplied.
Original packaging and accessories can materially affect the value of vintage collectibles.
Returned goods should therefore include all components originally supplied. Where legally permitted, a deduction may be made from a refund if handling, damage or missing components have reduced the value of the returned goods.
11. WEBSITE INFORMATION
We make reasonable efforts to ensure information on this website is accurate and current.
Occasional typographical, technical or administrative errors may nevertheless occur. We may correct such errors when identified.
Nothing in this section permits us to materially alter a contract already concluded with a consumer contrary to applicable law.
12. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Unless otherwise stated, the original photographs, written descriptions, branding, graphics and other original content created for this website are owned by or licensed to The Compact Collective.
They may not be copied, reproduced, republished or used commercially without permission except where permitted by law.
13. PROHIBITED USE
You must not use this website:
- for unlawful or fraudulent purposes;
- to interfere with the operation or security of the website;
- to introduce malicious code;
- to attempt unauthorised access to the website or associated systems;
- to infringe our intellectual property rights or those of another person; or
- in any other way prohibited by applicable law.
14. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Our website may use services supplied by third parties, including payment processors, delivery companies and technology providers.
Use of those services may also be subject to the relevant provider's terms and privacy practices.
Our online store is hosted using Shopify's ecommerce platform.
15. LIABILITY
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer protection law.
We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was formed or for losses arising from circumstances for which we are not legally responsible.
If you are purchasing as a consumer, nothing in these Terms limits the legal remedies available to you in respect of goods that are faulty, not as described or otherwise fail to conform to the contract.

Personal information submitted through this website is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
17. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to our business, website or applicable requirements.
The Terms applicable to an order will normally be those in effect when the relevant contract was made.

These Terms and contracts made through this website are governed by the applicable laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to customers elsewhere.
Consumers may also have rights to bring proceedings in the courts applicable to their place of residence where provided by law.
