A very rare early 1930s Stratton “Non Spill” powder compact, made in England and finished in striking black faux shagreen with a gold‑tone textured dot pattern. The faux shagreen effect gives this compact a wonderful, luxurious, slightly exotic look that really stands out in a Stratton collection.

Inside is the classic early Stratton non‑spill mechanism with the original fitted interior and mirror, together with a pretty pink Stratton puff. The mirror still offers a usable reflection and the non‑spill well was designed to be used with loose powder and the puff sat neatly over the top to form a seal.

The compact measures approximately 7 cm across, a lovely neat size for display.

As this piece has been well loved for around ninety years, there is some age‑related wear to the exterior, including rubbed and worn areas to the finish, particularly on the back and around the edges. The hinge and clasp still open and close, and overall it remains a beautifully atmospheric piece with loads of vintage charm and patina.

Perfect for:
Serious Stratton and vanity compact collectors
Lovers of early 20th‑century design and Art Deco era pieces
Display on a dressing table or in a curio cabinet
A unique gift for anyone who loves rare vintage accessories
