A stylish French Art Deco powder compact by L.F. (Louis Frères), dating from approximately the 1930s.
The rectangular case combines a textured pale leather covering with a polished chrome frame, creating a restrained geometric appearance very much in keeping with the Art Deco period.
The compact is stamped L.F. at the interior hinge and opens to reveal its original mirror and powder sifter.
Condition is good vintage overall. The pale leather covering presents well, with one small mark visible and shown clearly in the photographs. The interior has light age-related wear consistent with previous use, while the mirror remains clear. The hinge operates correctly and the compact closes securely.
Measurements: approximately 8.5 × 7.5 cm.
A particularly elegant French compact whose combination of textured leather and polished chrome makes it quite different from the enamelled vanity pieces more commonly encountered.
