A substantial vintage musical powder bowl, dating from approximately the 1930s–40s, with a brass and brown Art Deco case and a working Swiss musical movement.
Measuring approximately 14 cm diameter, this is a full-sized powder bowl rather than a handbag compact. The stepped circular construction and contrasting brass detailing are characteristic of the streamlined vanity accessories produced during the Art Deco period.
The mechanical Swiss music-box movement is working. The tune has not been identified.
There is a small chip to the rim. Importantly, the original detached fragment is still present and is currently secured with tape, so it has not been lost and may potentially be suitable for professional repair. The remainder of the piece is structurally secure.
