A vintage Mascot powder compact dating from approximately the 1950s, combining a cream enamelled lid with an unusual applied porcelain flower decoration.
The gold-tone case provides a warm frame for the pale enamel centre, while the hand-painted porcelain flowers add genuine three-dimensional detail rather than simply reproducing a floral design on the surface.
Inside are the original mirror and powder compartment.
There are signs of previous handling and use to the case and interior, while the porcelain floral decoration remains the feature that gives this Mascot its distinctive appearance.
The combination of enamel, gold-tone metal and applied porcelain makes this a much more tactile piece than the typical painted floral compact.
