Rare 1934 Volupté Quint Art Deco Five in One Vanity Carryall Powder Compact with Comb Minaudière

A wonderful and rare Volupté “Quint” vanity carryall dating to 1934, finished in ivory enamel with gold tone fittings and a beautiful Art Deco rhinestone clasp.

The Quint was an ingenious five-in-one design, its name referring to the five vanity essentials contained within: powder, rouge, lipstick, comb and mirror. This example retains all five elements, including its concealed tortoiseshell-effect comb, together with the original Volupté powder puff and small rouge puff.

The model is documented in specialist compact literature, where examples are described as rare and period advertising for the design is recorded from November 1934.

Measuring approximately 10.5 x 4 cm, the slim case opens to reveal a full-width mirror, with individual hinged compartments for powder, rouge and lip colour. Lifting the inner mirror section reveals the original comb tucked neatly beneath – a wonderfully clever piece of 1930s vanity design.

The compact remains in lovely vintage condition for its approximately 90 years of age, with age-related wear, marks and crazing to the ivory enamel as shown. The original cosmetics remain present and are offered for historical/display purposes only.

A particularly charming and unusually complete example of the Volupté Quint, and a fabulous piece for a collector of Art Deco compacts, vintage cosmetics and early vanity accessories.
