A vintage Stratton Convertible powder compact, made in England and dating from approximately the 1950s to early 1960s.

The gold-tone case has a rich blue enamel lid decorated with a white rose and bud, with engine-turned metal surrounding the enamelled centre.

Measuring approximately 7.5 cm diameter, the reverse carries the characteristic opening associated with Stratton’s Convertible system, which allowed the compact to accommodate different powder inserts.

Inside, the original mirror remains in place. The powder insert is no longer present.

There are marks from previous use to the interior and some surface wear to the case, while the blue enamel and floral decoration remain bright and attractive.

A classic Stratton combination of blue enamel, gold-tone metal and roses, with the Convertible construction adding a little more interest than a standard powder compact.
