The Lip-View was one of Stratton’s cleverest small handbag accessories. Rather than containing powder, it combines a folding mirror with a metal lipstick holder, allowing the lipstick to be clipped alongside the mirror and carried as a single unit.
This example measures approximately 6 cm across when closed. The textured botanical design is worked in gold-tone metal, giving it a much more restrained appearance than the colourful enamelled Lip-Views Stratton also produced.
The mirror, hinge and lipstick clip remain present and functional. The case has some marks and surface wear from previous use.
A good example of the actual Lip-View concept: compact enough for a handbag, but specifically engineered around applying lipstick rather than simply being a miniature mirror.
