A 1950s Stratton powder compact with a dramatic radiating starburst worked across its gold-tone lid.
The design begins at the centre and divides the surface into repeated narrow rays, producing one of Stratton’s strongly geometric post-war designs rather than the floral decoration often associated with the company.
Inside are the original mirror, mesh sifter and powder puff, so the principal powder fittings remain together.
The gold-tone case has marks and fine scratches from use, with corresponding evidence of previous use inside, but the starburst pattern remains sharply defined.
