Vintage 1940s 1950s Cigarette Case – Gold Pearlescent Early Plastic & Black Lattice – 8cm

£42.95

A striking vintage cigarette case dating to around the 1940s–50s, measuring approximately 8 x 5cm.

The case features wonderfully unusual lightweight decorative panels with a rich gold pearlescent finish beneath an irregular black lattice design. The panels have the appearance and feel of an early plastic, although the exact material cannot be confirmed.

A silver-coloured metal frame surrounds the decorative panels, and the case opens fully to reveal matching decoration on both sides. Two original yellow elastic retaining straps remain in place to hold cigarettes securely.

The case is completely unmarked, and no maker attribution can be made. Its combination of decorative early-plastic-style panels, metal frame and elastic fittings is characteristic of mid-20th-century cigarette accessories.

There is age-related wear and tarnishing to the metal frame, while the unusual gold and black decorative panels remain particularly attractive. Both retaining elastics are still present. Please see the photographs for the full condition.

A wonderfully distinctive mid-century cigarette case, with its shimmering gold finish and bold black lattice pattern giving it a particularly glamorous vintage appearance.
