A fabulous 1950s Mascot novelty powder compact, cleverly designed in the form of a miniature handbag.
Made in England by A.S. Brown & Co. under their Mascot brand, this charming compact measures approximately 7.5 x 6.5 cm and features warm tan leather panels with an attractive texture, framed in gold-tone metal. A wonderfully detailed raised handle completes the miniature handbag design.
The compact opens to reveal a beautifully bright gold-tone interior with a full mirror and hinged powder compartment. The powder cover has an elegant striped engine-turned design finished with the distinctive Mascot crown emblem.
A particularly appealing example of Mascot’s wonderfully imaginative mid-century novelty compacts and a lovely piece for a collector of vintage vanity accessories.
