Vintage 1950s Mascot Musical Suitcase Powder Compact – Thorens Limelight – Boxed with Original Tag & Pouch

A fabulous 1950s Mascot musical powder compact by A.S. Brown, designed in the wonderfully collectible form of a miniature suitcase or handbag. The gold-tone case has a beautifully engine-turned geometric design with small floral motifs and an ornate raised carrying handle.

Inside, the compact incorporates a powder compartment alongside its Swiss Thorens musical movement. The original labels on the box identify the tune as “Limelight”, and the music box remains a charming feature of this unusual vanity collectible.

This example is particularly appealing for its remarkable completeness, retaining its original Mascot presentation box, black fabric pouch decorated with gold motifs, pink Mascot powder puff and original red-and-gold Mascot guarantee swing tag. The compact itself appears unused.

Please note that the closure/catch from the powder well is missing, and there is an age-related mark to the mirror, both shown in the photographs.

A wonderful surviving example of Mascot’s novelty musical compacts, with an exceptional group of original accessories and packaging.
