A vintage English powder compact dating from approximately the 1950s, featuring a rich amber-brown tortoiseshell or wood-effect lid decorated with a gold floral design.
The gently domed lid has glossy variegated colouring which gives the surface depth, with the gold rose decoration providing contrast against the darker brown and amber tones.
The reverse is finished with finely engine-turned gilt decoration.
Opening the compact reveals its original mirror and powder compartment. The interior remains clean overall and the mirror is usable. The compact closes securely.
Condition is good vintage, with visible surface scratches to the lid and general age-related wear from previous use, all shown in the photographs.
Made in England.
