A beautiful and unusual vintage powder compact with an elaborate pierced floral design across the lid.
The decorative gold-tone overlay features sweeping leaves, flowers and scrolling stems, with the openwork design revealing a soft pale pink backing beneath. Fine engraved details add texture to the flowers and foliage, while a delicate beaded border finishes the edge.
The reverse is highly polished and beautifully simple, providing a striking contrast to the ornate front.
Inside is a large clear mirror, powder compartment, pink fabric sifter and matching powder puff. The compact measures approximately 9cm in diameter.
It remains in lovely vintage condition overall, with some light surface marks and age-related wear to the metalwork. The interior is particularly clean and the mirror remains clear and usable.
