A beautiful vintage DuBarry evening bag, lavishly hand embellished with tiny ivory seed beads and iridescent sequins over a soft cream satin ground.
The front is particularly elaborate, densely worked with swirling, almost lace-like beadwork amongst shimmering translucent sequins. The reverse has a completely different design, with large radiating starburst motifs picked out in seed beads, making the bag decorative from either side.
The envelope-style flap closes with a metal press stud and the interior retains its original DuBarry fabric label. The snap fastener is also marked Newey England.
Measuring approximately 21.5 x 12.5 cm, it is a lovely size for an evening or occasion bag and has a wonderfully glamorous mid-century feel.
The exterior is in lovely vintage condition, with the intricate bead and sequin work intact and no loose or missing beads noted. There are age-related marks and discolouration to the cream satin, as photographed, and the original tissue remains inside.
