A lovely Elgin American Beauty powder compact in a warm gold-tone finish, dating from around the 1950s. Its asymmetric, shield-like case is decorated with engraved flowers and scrolling foliage picked out in darker and warm red-brown tones, while the back has a simple brushed gold-tone finish.
Measuring approximately 8 x 6.5 cm, this compact has a shaped mirror inside and a textured metal powder cover marked “American Beauty” and “Made in USA”. Beneath is the powder well, without a mesh sifter. The original-style pink American Beauty powder puff is included.
The compact is in excellent vintage condition, with the mirror, hinge, clasp, internal powder cover and on branded puff all present. Please refer to the photographs, which form part of the condition description.
