A fabulous and unusual vintage powder compact, finished in deep forest green leather with gold-tone detailing.
The compact has a distinctive rounded handbag shape, with an unusual open panel across the top accented by two pairs of gold-tone bars. The green leather covering is beautifully simple, allowing the shape and detailing to do all the work.
Inside is a large shaped mirror with a cream-lined powder compartment below. The gold-tone interior and finely textured edging add a lovely finishing touch.
Measuring approximately 9 x 8cm, the compact is unmarked and the maker is unknown.
It remains in good vintage condition overall, with some light marks and signs of use to the leather, age-related wear to the gold-tone metalwork and some marking/discolouration to the cream interior, all shown in the photographs.
A really stylish vintage compact with a wonderfully unusual design — quite different from the more traditional round and square compacts of the period.
