A vintage Gwenda powder compact with an ornate scalloped case and a central design of two cherubs holding a basket of flowers.
Measuring approximately 7.5 cm diameter, the case is extensively engine turned, with the figural centre surrounded by decorative metalwork. The reverse carries a radiating wave pattern.
The interior is marked Gwenda and retains its original mirror and powder well.
This example has clearly been used and is priced accordingly. There is surface wear and tarnishing to the exterior, together with areas of plating loss inside. The mirror remains present and the case opens and closes securely.
The cherub motif is the feature here: an unusually decorative figural design from Gwenda, with considerably more detail than the maker’s plainer geometric compacts.
