Vintage Gwenda Powder Compact Silver Foil Lady Landscape 1930s

A beautiful 1930s Gwenda powder compact, distinguished by its petite octagonal form and wonderfully romantic silver foil lid. The luminous garden scene depicts a blonde lady in a pale blue and ivory gown, standing amid flowering borders and dark silhouetted trees, with silver-toned mountains beyond. Fine patterned foil texture gives the picture a particularly delicate, light-catching quality, while her red corsage and trailing red dress accents make a striking contrast against the cool silver, black and soft blue palette.

Measuring 6 cm across, this elegant little compact is framed in silver-toned metal and has a charming shell-shaped thumb catch. The reverse is finished in clear sky blue, complementing the colours of the lid beautifully. Inside is a circular mirror, round powder well, removable mesh sifter and blue fabric powder puff. The Gwenda England mark is visible at the hinge.
