A charming vintage half-moon powder compact, probably dating from the 1950s, with a wonderfully busy floral panel lending the piece its distinctive character. Tiny sprays of red, white, blue and yellow flowers bloom against a black ground, intertwined with leafy green stems and scattered blossom, all enclosed by a warm gold-tone border. The reverse is finely ribbed in gold tone, providing a lovely textural contrast to the colourful lid.
Measuring 10.5cm across, this elegant compact has a large half-moon mirror inside, along with a shaped powder well complete with its mesh sifter and white powder puff. It is unmarked, with no maker’s name visible.
The compact is in good vintage condition overall, and the floral decoration presents beautifully. The powder puff has age-related marks, and the hinge pin is loose, so the compact should be handled with care. Please refer to the photographs, which form part of the condition description.
