Vintage Kigu Dancing Deer Powder Compact With Original Puff, Tag & Presentation Box 7.5cm

A beautiful vintage Kigu powder compact featuring the sought-after Dancing Deer design, complete with its original Kigu puff, original quality guarantee tag and presentation box. Finding these early Kigu compacts with both the tag and box still present is becoming increasingly difficult, making this a particularly attractive example for collectors.

The lid features an elegant raised relief of two leaping deer amongst foliage, set against a finely engine-turned gilt background with a decorative scalloped border. The design has a graceful Art Deco influence while retaining the refined craftsmanship for which Kigu became famous.

Inside, the compact retains its original mirror, powder well, sifter frame and Kigu puff bearing the Kigu crown logo. The original hanging quality tag remains attached, reading “The Quality of This Compact Is Guaranteed By Kigu Ltd London” – a wonderful surviving detail rarely found intact.

Kigu of London produced some of Britain’s finest vanity accessories during the mid-20th century, and pieces retaining their original accessories are highly sought after by collectors today. This example captures the glamour of a bygone era when a lady’s compact was both an everyday necessity and a treasured personal possession.

The compact closes securely and displays beautifully. The mirror remains present, the original puff and tag survive, and the original presentation box is included. There is light age-related wear consistent with a vintage item, as shown in the photographs.
