Vintage Kigu Deer & Fawn Black Enamel Powder Compact – Convertible Mirror Compact – 7.5cm – Made in England
A beautiful vintage Kigu Convertible powder compact featuring one of the most unusual and elusive enamel designs produced by Kigu. The glossy black enamel lid is exquisitely decorated with a graceful doe and spotted fawn amongst delicate blossom, creating a charming scene that beautifully captures the elegance of mid-century design.
Unlike the more commonly encountered Kigu floral and engine-turned compacts, this deer and fawn design is exceptionally difficult to find, making it a particularly desirable piece for collectors of vintage vanity accessories and Kigu compacts.
Another fascinating feature is the unusual placement of the KIGU maker’s mark, which is stamped discreetly on the inner rim near the hinge rather than in the more familiar locations seen on most Kigu Convertible compacts. This less commonly encountered detail adds further interest and collectability.
The compact retains its original Convertible fitting, allowing it to be used with either loose or solid face powder. The mirror is bright and clear, the hinge and clasp work perfectly, and the compact closes securely.
Presented in exceptional vintage condition, the black enamel retains a deep glossy finish, the gilt metal is bright, and the interior is beautifully preserved with only the lightest signs of age consistent with careful storage over the decades. It is an outstanding example that would be difficult to upgrade.
A truly special Kigu compact combining an elusive design, unusual maker’s mark and exceptional condition, making it a wonderful addition to any serious Kigu or vintage compact collection.
