A richly decorated vintage Kigu of London powder compact combining colourful floral enamel with an unusual pierced lace-effect gold-tone surround.
Made in England and dating stylistically to approximately the 1950s–60s, the compact measures around 7.5 cm diameter.
The central enamel panel contains a colourful flower bouquet, framed by the intricate gold-tone border. Inside is a clear mirror, gold-tone powder well, original Kigu sifter and original powder puff.
It has survived in excellent condition. The enamel decoration remains crisp and colourful, the gold-tone finish is bright and the mirror is clear. Both original powder fittings are also well preserved.
The elaborate surround is what really distinguishes this Kigu, giving the floral centre the appearance of a tiny picture framed in golden lace.
A beautifully complete example of the more decorative side of Kigu’s mid-century vanity production.
