A beautiful vintage Kigu powder compact featuring a wonderfully detailed petit point floral panel, worked with a colourful arrangement of flowers and a blue vase against a soft cream ground. The needlework is protected beneath a clear cover and framed by a twisted gold-tone border.
The reverse has Kigu’s finely textured engine-turned finish, while inside is a full mirror above the powder compartment. The compact retains its original Kigu-branded powder puff and mesh sifter.
It also comes with the charming vintage Kigu of London presentation box shown, printed in gold with the Kigu name, stars and flowing script.
Measuring approximately 8cm in diameter, this is a particularly pretty example of Kigu’s textile-covered compacts, combining traditional petit point needlework with the polished gold-tone finish for which the maker is known.
The compact is in lovely vintage condition overall, with light age-related wear to the metalwork. The mirror remains clear, and the petit point panel presents beautifully. The original puff shows signs of age and previous powder use, as photographed. The box has some light storage wear consistent with age.
