A beautiful large vintage Kigu powder compact, made in England and finished in a rich gold tone with an unusually elaborate floral and ribbon design.
The lid is particularly striking, with broad ribbon-like bands crossing through the centre and finely detailed floral panels between them. Engine-turned decoration adds further texture and catches the light beautifully, while the reverse has a classic radiating engine-turned pattern.
This is a generously sized compact at approximately 9 cm in diameter and has a lovely substantial feel in the hand.
The interior is exceptionally clean and beautifully presented. Opening the compact reveals a clear mirror together with the powder compartment and fitted sifter. The internal metalwork is also attractively decorated with concentric engine-turned detailing, giving the interior almost as much visual interest as the exterior.
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition and remarkably clean for its age. The gold-tone finish remains bright and attractive, with only very light signs of age and use visible in the photographs. The decorative detailing remains crisp and well defined, and the interior presents exceptionally well. The hinge and clasp are working correctly and the compact closes securely.
