Vintage Mascot Powder Compact with Limoges Porcelain Plaque – 8cm, Gold-Tone, 1950s–60s

This vintage Mascot powder compact combines British mid-century manufacture with a genuine Limoges porcelain plaque, giving it a rather different character from the usual enamelled floral compact.

Dating from approximately the 1950s–60s, the gold-tone case measures around 8 cm diameter and has an engine-turned finish surrounding the central porcelain plaque, which is decorated with colourful flowers.

Inside are the original mirror and instructional insert for cream powder, together with the original Genuine Limoges Porcelain Plaque sticker. The reverse has a crosshatch pattern and retains the powder-tin release hole referred to on the instruction insert.

The porcelain remains bright and undamaged, while the case shows light signs of previous handling. There is minor spotting to the mirror and both hinge and clasp remain secure.

An interesting and unusually complete Mascot, particularly appealing for the combination of its British compact and French Limoges porcelain centre.
