A fabulous vintage Mascot powder compact with a vivid red enamel lid crossed by a dramatic radiating gold-tone starburst.
Measuring approximately 7 cm diameter, the compact has a convertible arrangement designed to accommodate either loose or solid powder.
Inside are the original mirror, powder puff and sifter.
It has survived in excellent vintage condition, with the rich red enamel remaining particularly bright and the gold starburst still crisp and striking.
The design is pure mid-century: bold colour, strong geometry and none of the delicacy of the floral compacts being produced at the same time.
