An unusual mid-century lipstick holder dating from approximately the 1950s–60s, made from clear lucite densely embedded with shimmering iridescent flakes.
The irregular flakes catch the light beautifully, producing flashes of pearly white, silver, pink and green depending on the angle. The lucite panels are set against gold-tone metal sides, giving the piece a wonderfully glamorous period appearance.
A sliding mechanism raises the lipstick holder, while the small hinged top opens to reveal the lipstick cup inside. The mechanism operates correctly and the lid opens and closes as intended.
The piece is unbranded.
Condition is good vintage overall. The lucite remains bright and attractive, with the iridescent flake decoration displaying beautifully. There is light age-related wear to the metal components consistent with previous handling and use.
