Two Scotties, little pointed ears, cream background and gold-tone stripes — frankly, this one sells itself.

Dating from the 1950s, this wonderfully cheerful barrel cigarette case features a pair of black Scottie dogs standing side by side across the front. The cream panel is framed by ribbed gold-tone ends, while the rounded barrel shape gives it that fabulous chunky mid-century profile.

The reverse and interior have engine-turned decoration, with the curved construction designed to accommodate the cigarettes within the barrel-shaped case.

It has clearly been carried and enjoyed: there is rubbing to the gold tone around the edges and corners, some surface marking and small areas of wear to the decorated Scottie panel. It still opens and closes securely.

Approximately 9 cm / 3.54 inches across.

A fabulous little piece of mid-century novelty design — playful, unusual and particularly irresistible for anyone with a weakness for vintage dog pieces.
