A charming vintage London souvenir powder compact, featuring a pictorial view of St Paul’s Cathedral beneath the words “Souvenir of St. Paul’s”.
The circular compact measures approximately 6 cm in diameter and has a gold-tone case with an attractive radiating engine-turned design to the reverse. The front features a period image of the famous cathedral beneath a clear cover.
Inside is a full-size mirror, powder compartment with fabric sifter and a powder puff.
This is a well-loved vintage example and does show its age. There is noticeable deterioration and desilvering around the edges of the mirror, together with surface wear, marks and some discolouration to the case and pictorial panel, all visible in the photographs.
Despite the wear, the St Paul’s image remains wonderfully evocative. A lovely little piece of vintage London travel memorabilia, and an unusual addition to a collection of souvenir or vintage powder compacts.
