Vintage Stratton Convertible Powder Compact White Enamel Engraved Piano Couple 1960s

An unusual 1960s Stratton convertible powder compact, made in England, with a glossy white enamel lid framed in warm gold tone. Fine gilt engraving depicts a stylish couple beside a grand piano, the woman carrying a bouquet and the piano creating a particularly striking mid-century backdrop.

Measuring approximately 8.5cm in diameter, this is a satisfyingly substantial circular compact. The reverse is engraved with close vertical lines scattered with tiny stars, centred by the Stratton England mark. Inside are a large lid mirror, a hinged inner cover and mesh sifter over the powder well, allowing the compact to be used with loose powder or a suitable pressed powder pan. A Stratton Made in England powder puff is also present.

In good vintage condition, with the white enamel and engraved scene presenting particularly well and light wear commensurate with age and previous use. Please refer to the photographs, which form part of the condition description.
