Vintage Stratton Foster Powder Compact – Boy Giving Girl Flower Romantic Scene – 1960s

A charming and collectible 1960s Stratton powder compact featuring one of the romantic illustrated designs signed Foster. The scene depicts a young man kneeling amongst a meadow of flowers as he offers a bloom to an elegantly dressed young woman in a wide-brimmed floral hat.

Part of the series of romantic Foster illustrations used by Stratton, the artwork has a wonderfully delicate, almost storybook quality, with soft blues, pinks and warm golden tones. The Foster signature can be seen beneath the illustration.

Measuring approximately 7.5 cm in diameter, the compact has a gilt-tone case with Stratton’s repeating star design to the reverse and the Stratton Made in England mark. Inside is a powder well with sifter and a full-size mirror.

The illustrated lid remains particularly attractive, with the colours and fine detail very well preserved. There is some age-related wear to the gilt finish and noticeable deterioration and spotting to part of the mirror, as photographed.

A lovely example from the sought-after Foster series, and an appealing piece for anyone looking to collect the different signed designs.
