A classic vintage Stratton powder compact in gold-tone metal, distinguished by two contrasting engine-turned patterns rather than enamel decoration.
Made in England and measuring approximately 8 cm diameter, one side carries a striped engine-turned design while the reverse has a tiny star or spot pattern centred by the Stratton logo.
Inside it remains particularly complete with its original mirror, mesh sifter and Stratton-marked powder puff.
There are light surface scratches and small marks to the metal from previous handling. The mirror has developed some speckling or foxing, while the compact itself opens and closes securely.
It is an understated Stratton, but the appeal is in the workmanship: turn it in the hand and the two patterned surfaces catch and reflect the light differently.
A lovely example of how effective Stratton could be without using a single flower or patch of enamel.
