The cream enamelled lid is what makes this Stratton Indian Jewel compact so striking, with its fine gilt scrollwork, tiny red, blue, green and yellow jewel-style details, and a raised central motif. It is a generously sized musical powder compact with a substantial gold-tone case and softly scalloped outline.
Inside, it has a clear mirror, powder well and its pink Stratton-branded puff. The musical mechanism plays well when the stopper is lifted; the tune is believed to be Le Ronde d'Amour, although this cannot be guaranteed. A black pouch is included for storage.
There is a large scratch to the inner section, as photographed, along with light age-related marks to the gold-tone finish. The compact closes neatly and the musical mechanism is working well. Please refer to the photographs, which form part of the condition description.
