This unusual vintage Stratton Lip View is one of the more playful designs produced by the British maker, decorated with bottles, glasses, grapes and celebratory toasts including Proost, Skaal, Salud, Cheers, Good Luck and Happy Days.

Made in England, the Lip View cleverly combines a folding mirror and lipstick holder in one compact handbag accessory. The circular mirror measures approximately 6 cm diameter, with the lipstick section approximately 6 cm long, giving an overall open length of around 12 cm.

The colourful decoration remains bright and detailed, with gentle signs of previous use. The folding mechanism is intact and operates correctly.

Stratton produced the Lip View in numerous finishes, but this wonderfully sociable drinks-and-toasts design is a particularly characterful departure from the company’s familiar florals and geometric patterns.

A fabulous little piece of mid-century handbag design — practical, ingenious and clearly made with evenings out in mind.
