A vintage Stratton Lipview with an unusually understated finish, combining stitched tan leather with polished gold-tone metal.
Dating from around the mid-20th century, the Lipview combines a flip-up oval mirror and lipstick holder, allowing lipstick to be applied using the integral mirror.
The gold-tone frame carries Stratton’s metal clip designed to hold the lipstick securely, while the base and underside are covered in neatly stitched tan leather.
The leather shows gentle signs of previous use, while the gold-tone metal retains a good shine. The mirror remains clear and both the hinge and lipstick clip operate correctly.
Compared with Stratton’s brightly enamelled Lipviews, the leather covering gives this example a much quieter, more sophisticated appearance.
