An unusual vintage Stratton powder compact featuring an enamel Morris car badge mounted at the centre of a brushed gold-tone lid.
Made in England and dating from approximately the 1960s, the compact measures around 7.5 cm diameter.
The reverse carries Stratton’s characteristic engine-turned star pattern, while inside are the original mirror and Stratton powder puff.
The compact is in very good vintage condition. There are minor surface marks from previous handling, but the Morris emblem remains crisp and colourful, the mirror is clear and both hinge and clasp operate correctly.
The motoring subject makes this a particularly interesting departure from Stratton’s much more familiar floral, scenic and geometric designs, with appeal to both Stratton collectors and enthusiasts of British motoring memorabilia.
A lovely little crossover between two very recognisable names in British mid-century history.
