A decorative vintage Stratton powder compact, made in England and featuring a traditional romantic courting scene.
The richly coloured pastoral scene is framed by an elegant scalloped gold-tone case, while the reverse carries Stratton’s characteristic fine linear engine-turned decoration and is signed by the maker.
Opening the compact reveals its original mirror and powder compartment.
Condition is good vintage overall. The exterior scene remains bright and well preserved, with light age-related wear to the surrounding metalwork. The mirror has visible foxing and age-related marks, shown clearly in the photographs, but remains usable. There is also light cosmetic wear to the interior consistent with previous use.
The hinge and clasp operate correctly and the compact closes securely.
