Look closely at the flowers and there he is — a tiny bumblebee.
That little detail completely makes this vintage Stratton for me. The cream enamel centre is decorated with a delicate floral wreath, but tucked amongst the botanical design is the little bee, turning what could have been another pretty floral compact into something much more playful.
The soft cream, coloured flowers and warm gold-tone surround work beautifully together, giving the compact a fresh, almost garden-like feel.
Inside is the original mirror and powder fitting. There are signs of previous use and some surface marking visible in the photographs, but the decoration remains bright and charming.
A particularly sweet Stratton design — and one you really do have to look at twice before you spot its best detail.
