Vintage Stratton Powder Compact: Navy Enamel Sunburst, Made in England

Stratton florals are lovely, but every now and then one comes along that reminds you just how good their geometric designs could be.

This vintage Stratton compact has a rich navy-blue enamel lid cut through with a bold radiating sunburst. Against the warm gold-tone case, the deep blue is fabulous — elegant, graphic and a little more sophisticated than the traditional flower designs.

Inside is the original mirror and powder fitting, with Stratton’s familiar beautifully engineered construction.

The compact has been used and there are visible surface marks and rubbing rather than a pristine finish, but the navy enamel and strong sunburst remain the dominant feature.

A handsome little Stratton with a proper mid-century feel — proof that sometimes all you need is one great colour and a really good geometric pattern.
