A vintage Stratton Slimline loose-powder compact, made in England and dating from approximately the 1950s to early 1960s.
Approximately 7 cm diameter, the gold-tone lid has a distinctive diagonal banded engine-turned design, while the reverse carries Stratton’s repeating scattered-star pattern.
Inside is the Compact-in-Hand mark, together with the original mirror, loose-powder well and sifter.
The compact remains in very good condition. The gold-tone finish is bright with only light surface marks, the mirror is clear and the interior is clean. Both hinge and clasp operate correctly.
A good example of Stratton’s Slimline format, with two distinctly different engine-turned patterns giving an otherwise simple gold-tone compact plenty of detail.
