Vintage Stratton Wedgwood Cameo Powder Compact Blue Jasperware Gold Tone 1950s

A beautiful Stratton powder compact centred with a Wedgwood blue cameo medallion, its raised white classical figural scene on blue jasperware. The richly gilded cover is particularly striking, with finely radiating, wavy engine-turned decoration surrounding the cameo and a graceful scalloped octagonal outline.

Measuring approximately 7.5cm across, this elegant English compact has a clear round mirror, still retaining its Stratton instruction label identifying the cameo as made by Josiah Wedgwood & Sons Ltd. Beneath is Stratton’s patented inner door mechanism, embossed with the Stratton name and opening over the powder well. It is complete with a cream mesh sifter and Stratton-branded powder puff. The reverse is beautifully finished with a finely textured ground scattered with tiny star motifs, while the inner rim is marked Made in England. A black pouch accompanies the compact.

In excellent vintage condition and appearing unused, with a bright gold-tone finish, lovely Wedgwood cameo, clear mirror and well-presenting inner mechanism, mesh sifter and puff. Please refer to the photographs, which form part of the condition description.
