A vintage Volupté powder compact, made in the USA and dating from approximately the 1950s.
The square gold-tone case has a floral enamelled exterior and a distinctive book-style hinged construction. Opening it reveals a surprisingly ornate interior with engraved metalwork, mirror and powder compartment, together with the original powder puff.
The interior has survived particularly well, with a clear mirror and clean powder well.
The exterior shows considerably more evidence of its age, with noticeable wear and areas of loss to the enamel decoration. This is clearly visible in the photographs and has been reflected in the price; it does not affect the operation of the compact.
Condition aside from the enamel loss is good vintage, and the contrast between the worn exterior and well-preserved decorative interior is quite striking.
