A vintage Stratton combination powder compact, made in England and dating from approximately the 1950s to early 1960s.
The rectangular gold-tone case measures approximately 8.5 x 7 cm and combines a loose-powder compact with a separate integrated lipstick holder, allowing both cosmetics to be carried together in one case.
The lid has an unusual Oriental-inspired design featuring a dragon and figure against a soft gold background, while the reverse is decorated with a textured scrolling pattern.
Inside are the original mirror, loose-powder compartment, sifter frame, hinged inner powder lid and lipstick fitting. The compact carries a No. 1 marking.
Condition is very good. The exterior decoration remains bright and clearly defined, the mirror is clear and the gold-tone finish retains a good lustre with only minor signs of previous handling. The hinge and closure operate correctly.
A particularly attractive Stratton combination compact, with an unusual decorative subject and a very complete original interior.
