A wonderfully decorative vintage Kigu barrel cigarette case from the Dolphin 96 series, dating to the 1960s.
The curved front is finished in deep blue and decorated with a mallard taking flight amongst tall reeds and bulrushes. The rich colours of the bird stand beautifully against the dark background, framed by warm gold-tone metal.
The reverse has Kigu’s finely textured gold-tone finish and the case opens along its full-length hinge to reveal the original plain gold-tone interior.
These small barrel cases were designed to hold cigarettes, although their compact size also makes them rather lovely for keeping a favourite lipstick or other tiny treasures.
Size: approximately 7.5cm long x 2.75cm deep.
Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related wear, including surface scratches and marks to the decorated front and wear and tarnishing to the gold-tone finish. There is spotting and a darker mark to the interior, all shown clearly in the photographs.
