An unusually charming Art Deco camera-shaped vanity compact, finished in pale grey and black snakeskin-effect covering with warm gold-tone fittings. Its wonderfully distinctive rectangular form, rounded roll-shaped ends and raised central panel evoke a miniature camera, while the finely embossed floral border lends the piece a delicate decorative finish.
One side contains a powder compartment with its hinged mirror and cream fabric powder puff, while the reverse reveals a neatly fitted manicure section. This retains three cream coloured handled implements—a nail file and two manicure tools—held in place against a tan woven panel with stitched edging and elastic loops. A separate gold-tone lipstick tube is cleverly concealed within the side of the case and is shown removed in the photographs. Measuring approximately 10 x 5 cm
The compact is in good vintage condition. Its attractive snakeskin-effect finish and fitted interior components remain well presented, with age-related wear and small areas of loss to the exterior covering, together with wear and tarnishing to the gold-tone finish.
