Vintage Art Deco Jeweled Powder Compact – Emerald Green Paste Stones – 1930s 1940s

A striking vintage Art Deco powder compact dating to approximately the 1930s–1940s, beautifully decorated with emerald-green and clear paste stones.

Measuring approximately 8 x 5.5cm, the rectangular silver-tone case features wonderful geometric engine-turned decoration, with contrasting linear and finely textured panels creating a dramatic architectural design. Rows of vivid green stones run along each side, while the centre is finished with a geometric jewel-set motif combining green and clear stones.

Inside is a large rectangular mirror and the original framed fabric powder sifter. The compact is stamped “FOREIGN” to the clasp; no maker’s name has been found.

All of the decorative stones appear to be present, which is particularly lovely to find on a piece of this age. There is age-related surface wear and marking to the case and some minor deterioration/marks to the mirror, all shown in the photographs and consistent with its vintage age.
