The stepped geometric marcasite detail gives this unmarked Art Deco compact a sharp, stylish focal point against its bright silvery finish. Its scalloped outer edge and concentric line decoration add to the period look without making it feel overdone.
Measuring approximately 9 cm across, it opens to a generously sized mirror and powder well. The original-style mesh sifter is still present, complete with its soft surrounding edge, making this a pleasingly complete little vanity piece.
There is age-related surface wear and fine scratching to the exterior, while the mirror has noticeable foxing and spotting as shown. The compact remains an attractive display piece, with the marcasite decoration and scalloped shape doing most of the talking. Please refer to the photographs, which form part of the condition description.
